Connecting Dots

Why Health Services Management?

I chose to study Health Services Management because I’ve always been surrounded by healthcare. My family works on the clinical side, and that inspired me to be in the field too. I knew I wanted to work in healthcare, but I also knew I wanted to do something beyond providing hands-on care. I’m specifically interested in the leadership and business side of how healthcare organizations run and how decisions behind the scenes impact patients. Through my classes at IU Indianapolis, I’ve realized how important strong management and strategy are to improving care, and that’s what made this major feel like the right fit for me.

About

I’m a senior at Indiana University Indianapolis majoring in Health Services Management, graduating in Spring 2026. I knew I wanted to work in healthcare from the beginning of my college career, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be on the clinical side of healthcare. Through career exploration and learning more about different paths, I realized I’m most interested in the business and operational side of healthcare. I’m especially drawn to medical device sales because it allows me to stay connected to healthcare while also using my personality and drive. As I continue growing professionally, I want to build a career where I can make an impact, build strong connections, and keep challenging myself in a competitive, fast-paced environment.
