Capstone Internship

Marketing Intern for ComForCare
At ComForCare, I worked with the marketing team supporting assisted living facilities. I helped with different projects like doing research, organizing data, and coming up with ways to better reach families and potential clients. I also visited some facilities to get a better feel for the environment and services.
ComForCare Home Care
Primary Responsibilities and Projects
-
I helped market our home care services by visiting a variety of assisted living facilities. I spent time introducing our agency to staff and residents while building connections. This gave me a better understanding of how outreach works in a healthcare setting.
-
I also assisted with health assessments alongside team members during visits. This allowed me to observe client needs and how care plans are developed. It helped me see the importance of personalized care in assisted living environments.
-
Another part of my role was handing out informational cards and materials. I shared these with staff, residents, and families to help spread awareness about our services. This experience improved my communication skills and confidence when talking to others.
-
I also participated in “lunch-ins” at different facilities to help promote our agency. During these events, I connected with staff and answered basic questions about what we offer. It was a great way to build relationships and get our name out in the community.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes
During my internship at ComForCare, I learned a lot about how marketing actually works in a healthcare setting. I wasn’t just sitting behind a desk, I was expected to go out to assisted living facilities, talk to staff, and help spread awareness about our services. I also learned how important first impressions are when representing a company in person.
I was expected to be professional, organized, and willing to step into different situations, whether that was helping with health assessments, handing out materials, or attending events like lunch-ins. It wasn’t always the same thing every day, so I had to stay flexible and ready to help wherever I was needed. I got more comfortable talking to new people and explaining what our agency offers.
To meet those expectations, I made sure I was prepared before each visit and paid attention to how the team interacted with facilities. I asked questions when I wasn’t sure about something and tried to learn from the people I was working with. Being consistent and showing up ready to help made it easier to build trust with both my team and the facilities we worked with
